The hero with a thousand faces

This sculpture represents the archetype of the Hero, as described in Joseph campbell’s work. The Hero’s journey is a universal motif of adventure and transformation wich is found in all mythical stories. The Hero listens to the call to adventure, crosses the boundary into the underworld and meets a helper that will give him the neccessary weapon, tool or wisdom to come back. After completing the road of trials and meeting with the goddess, the Hero returns with the ultimate boon, the elixir of life.
